Old Town Apartments are located in the heart of the Prague city centre, close to the renowned Old Town Square (in Czech 'Staromestske namesti') and to the lively Wenceslas Square (Vaclavske namesti), Prague 1. Gay bars, cafes and saunas are neighboring historic monuments and sightseeing which you will find in every travel guide book. Excellent public transport by Metro and many tram and bus lines bring you quickly to all of Prague's tourist venues (though you will hardly need the transportation, because everything is within walking distance). Dusan, the owner, is very helpful. He is fluent in English and also speaks Russian and basic German. All staff is gay.
Phone cards, transport tickets, theatre tickets, musical tickets available at check-in on prior request. At all locations, supermarkets are around the corner. Breakfast is self-catering. The apartments have self-regulated heating. Pets allowed. Reservations in advance required. Open all year.
You may store your valuables at the owner's place free of charge. Keys for every guest. The Old Town Square

The Old Town Square (Staromestske namesti) is one of the oldest and most memorable squares in Prague. Its shape is irregular and formed by charming houses. Most of them originate from the middle ages and were late renaissance or baroque renovated. Often their origin goes back as far as the roman period.

Ground- and parts of the first floors are preserved in the cellars of the later gothic houses. There are about sixty of those houses with a roman origin on or nearby this square. Although they are very old, the quality of these roman, stone walls is very good.

On the east side of the square stands an early gothic house (nr. 604/14) which used to be the Tyn school. Through this house is a passage to the monumental Tyn cathedral. In the cellar of the house is the heart of a roman building. It dates from the 13th century and has arbours, which are typical for gothic buildings of that period. Arch gables of the Venetian type were added during renaissance renovations.

Next to it stands a corner house 'At the Stone Bell' (nr. 605/13), the most attractive gothic house in Prague with a beautiful facade. The house 'At the Golden Unicorn' is another example of late gothic buildings with roman foundations.

At the corner of Paris Street stands the lofty church of St. Nicholas. Originally it belonged to the Slovak monastic order of Benedictus, in the 18th century for some time to the Russian orthodox church, from which period dates the chandelier in the shape of a czar crown. Presently it is used by the Czech Hussite Church.

In the 18th century the church was for a certain time desecrated and acrobatics were performed in its cupola. The Frenchman Jean-Pierre Blanchard, who swam the English Channel, demonstrated his techniques here in the year 1791. The baroque church was a project of I. K. Dientzenhofer. The ornamental plastering is by Bernard Benetti and the frescos are made by Kosma Damian Assam. On the west-side is the so-called Little square where the historically valuable fountain with reanaissance iron grating stands.

The square is dominated by the high tower of the Old Town Hall, in which is the magnificent astronomical Orloj. On the east wall hangs a plaque, with the names of 27 leaders of the revolts against the Habsburg family. The crosses on the pavement indicate, where they were executed. The monument of Jan Hus at the centre of the square reminds us of another historical event. Jan Hus was burnt in 1415 at the synod in Kostnice, because he openly criticised the church activities, especially the indulgences. The monument was created by Ladislav Salouna and is an important work of the Modern-art period. The square is crossed by the meridian, to which the time was measured. A time in which most historical events of the Czech nation often concentrated on the Old Town Square.

Transfers from and to the airport are available for 35 Euro one way or 60 Euro return; Transfers from and to the rail stations are available for 20 Euro one way or 30 Euro return (per car, max. 3 persons). The drivers for the airport and train pick-ups both speak basic English. You may reserve the Airport Transfer or the Rail Transfer after your booking is confirmed.

Directions by Car & Parking: You can collect your apartment keys directly at your accommodation by prior arrangement with the owner. Or guests who are uncertain of their arrival time by calling to make an arrangement. The certain phone number will be provided with the confirmation of your reservation. Step 1: Please fill the form and you will receive an autoreply email. This will be to confirm that we have received your request. Step 2: Soon we will send a second email to confirm your reservation. This confirmation email will include all details like directions etc. You should receive it within 1 and 12 hours. Please print it and bring it to Prague. (If we cannot confirm because OldTown is fully booked GayGuide.Net Prague will offer other places that are available. You will never get lost!).
Step 3: Please reply to the confirmation to let us know that you safely received it. You may want to book the transfer service from the airport or rail station. Please follow the instructions in the confirmation email.
